better known as the Silvestri mountains. The two craters, at an altitude of 1900 m. they were formed during a volcanic activity that lasted for 173 days, back in 1892, threatening the town of Nicolosi from close up.

Etna tour by helicopter: the Sapienza refuge and the Silvestri mountains

Near the two craters, tourist areas and a base for tracking on Etna, the Sapienza refuge, have arisen. The whole area is known with the homonymous name of this refuge. The lunar panorama seen on board our helicopters is a spectacle at any time of the year. With the snow or the sun you can admire incredible shows and a panorama that extends from Calabria to far beyond Syracuse.

But here we are on the coast downstream from Taormina to admire Isola Bella that enchants us and is always the first time every time! We continue the tour flying towards Etna

Our tour continues, we leave Taormina behind and head towards the highest volcano in Europe, Etna. Its majesty is amplified by the numerous lava flows that are repeated every year, a look at a safe distance towards the active craters, which we have extensively talked about in this post and immediately we find ourselves in the sky of the Silvestri craters.
